Aboriginal uses: this tree is referred to as the supermarket tree because of all it provides. The bark was used for canoes, shields (Wocalti) and shelters. Possums provided meat and skins, bird’s - meat and eggs, native bees, - honey, rounded growths called burls made bowls. The gum or sap which was high in tannin content was used to seal burns and cuts. Eucalyptus oil in the leaves was inhaled as a medicine to relieve congestion. The Kino (gum) was made into a drink for diarrhoea
