AT SHEVINGTON:
Ch Merrihall Royal Black CD ET ( Charly ) Bred by W. Hall.
In 1986, I bought my first black Cocker. He became Ch Merrihall Royal Black CD ET . I started obedience with him in 1986 and started showing him in 1987. He was successful in the show ring and in Obedience, and gained a 2 nd in Novice Obedience at the Adelaide Royal Show as well as winning RUBIS and Best Opposite in Show at Cocker Spaniel Club of SA open shows and parades. He was also a RUBIG and class in group winner at all breeds championship shows.
Charly was the sire of the first Shevington litter.
Bradbern Margo CD ( Cassie ) Bred by Mrs Braddock and Mrs Eldredge.
I also made up a blue roan to her CD title in 1989, Bradbern Margo CD . She was such a delightful lady and a pleasure to know.
Ch Wardown Bush Bred ( Pebbles ) Bred by A Walker.
I am indebted to Anne Walker for giving me Pebbles. A blue roan, Pebbles had an illustrious show career, including winning Best Of Breed at the Adelaide Royal Show from an entry of over 100 Cockers. She was the dam of the first Shevington litter.
Wardown Tanamera ( Ceilidh ) Bred by A Walker.
Ceilidh was a blue roan and tan and was the dam of the second and third Shevington litters. Winner of many in-group awards and many Reserve Challenges, her greatest value was as a dam. She produced Ch Shevington Highland Mist CD TDX ET from her first litter to Ch Shevington Royal Blue and Ch Shevington Royal T from her second litter which was sired by Ch Teenalee Mr T (owned and bred by T&P Hartnett).
Menander Simply Red (Cracker) Bred by B Cope.
Cracker was gold and had all the beauty which goes with this colour. She performed well in the show ring as a youngster and lived at Shevington in her retirement to the end of her days. Her grandmother, Jenna, a black champion Lochranza import, shared her retirement with her – also until the end of her days.
The three Musketeers from the first Shevington litter, (Ch Merrihall Royal Black CD ET x Ch Wardown Bush Bred whelped 24/3/1991), Ch Shevington Royal Blue (Callum) – blue roan
Ch Shevington Bush Dance (Chryssa) - black
Ch Shevington Bush Walker (Ceri) - black
each was unique in their own way but all had inherited their sire's calm temperament and their dam's sense of humour. They all performed well in the show ring, winning many awards between them. They have now passed on and are sadly missed.
SHEVINGTON COCKERS OWNED BY OTHERS:
Ch Shevington Highland Mist CD TDX ET ( Misty ) – blue roan, owned and exhibited and trialled by Judith O'Brien, Silverblue Kennels in Victoria, Australia.
Ch Shevington Royal T ( Carla )- black and white, owned and exhibited by Anne Walker, Wardown Kennels in South Australia . During her show career, she was the only black and white Cocker in over 10 years to gain its title in South Australia .
